L’Oreal Professional Liss Ultime Heat Protectant Review

Hello IMBBians,

I am back with a new review. This time, its a hair product.  As we all know, using any kind of heat on the hair, damages them badly in the long run. Hence, its always preferred to use least amount of heat on the hair.  Besides that, one should always use a heat protectant before blow drying or ironing hair.

I came across L’Oreal Professional Liss Ultime (Reflexium) Heat Protectant when I went for my hair cut last time which was two to three months ago.  My hair dresser suggested this product to me as I wanted my hair to be blow dried in a specific manner more often. She explained to me that the hair shafts and the hair cuticles remain protected by using a heat protectant. Later on, I thought this can be used as a serum also to keep the hair moisturized for a longer period, but she said no it’s not possible to keep the hair moisturized using a heat protectant, so I have to use a separate serum after blow drying my hair. She made me aware of the fact that this heat protectant can be used for both the conditions, blow drying as well as ironing.

Cost:

Rs 580/- for 50 ml.

It is a glass bottle and it is in pump form. The bottle is of purple color with grey-colored plastic nozzle. It’s a glass bottle and hence one has to be careful while handling the same.

This is how the liquid looks, its transparent fluid, and doesn’t leave any oily residue on hair.

It detangles the hair nicely. It says its “thermo-smoothing oil for use with heated styling tools.”

Product Description:

Thermo-soothing oil helps to protect the hair and optimize the effect of heated styling tools, leaving the hair feeling silky-smooth to touch.

Directions To Use:

Apply to shampooed, blow-dried hair. Use a hair dryer or straightening iron to achieve the smoothest results.

Ingredients:

There are too many chemicals, but I suppose they all are normal ones. The natural ingredients that are present in it are apricot kernel oil and avocado oil.

What I do is, after washing my hair, I partially towel dry my hair first. Then, I use my Philips blow dryer at the minimum temperature and maximum speed, without its narrow head. When they are almost dry and with least wetness, I apply this heat protectant and give the desired look to my hair with the help of the dryer with its narrow head on. With this, I am done with styling my hair.

After this, I apply my serum and I am done for the day since this heat protectant doesn’t moisturize the hair at all. I cannot say if the hair style is maintained for the whole day or not, because sometimes it fails to happen like that. I can just say it’s a nice heat protectant and I feel my hair is protected.  Also, this product smells great, but it hardly lingers in the hair, since I immediately put serum after blow drying.

To summarize about the product:

Pros of L’Oreal Professional Liss Ultime Heat Protectant:

• Protects hair well from heat.
• Detangles hair nicely.
• Decently priced.
• Can be used for blow drying as well as ironing the hair.
• Smells great.
• Doesn’t leave any residue on hair.

Cons of L’Oreal Professional Liss Ultime Heat Protectant:

• Glass bottle is very risky to handle.
• Doesn’t moisturize the hair at all.

Fab India Aloe and Cucumber Gel Face Pack

After being fascinated by the concept of gel scrubs, the new entry in my favourite list is the gel face packs. This definitely sounds interesting.  It has some properties which our conventional cream-based or mud packs lack. I always prefer something that is made up of organic and natural ingredients, so that I just do not end up torturing rather than pampering my skin with harsh chemicals. This gel pack though has some chemical ingredients, but definitely not the scary ones.

Today, I will be reviewing a face pack that can be very soothing and relaxing, especially in this scorching heat. Most of us do not feel like stepping out in this hot weather, but we would have to, there is no other go.  So, this gel pack can compensate your skin’s damage from being under the harshness of the sun to a great extent.

Product Description:

Made with aloe vera and cucumber extract, this gel face pack gives a cooling and soothing effect. It keeps the skin healthy and protects it from the environmental damages.

Ingredients:

Purified Water, Propylene Glycol, Carbopol 940, Sodium Hydroxide, Glycerin, Lactic Acid, Propyl Paraben, Imidazolidinyl Urea, Aloe Vera Extract, Cucumber Extract, Allantoin, Disodium EDTA, Methyl Paraben
Directions for use: Avoiding the eye area, apply the pack and leave on for 10 minutes. Rinse with cold water and pat dry.

Price:

225 INR for 100 ml.

Shelf Life:

3 years.

Packaging:

Comes in a traditional Fab India tub packaging with screw cover. A white lid inside the screw cap placed on the neck of the tub prevents the gel from leaking out and thus makes it travel friendly.

My Experience with Fab India Aloe and Cucumber Gel Face Pack:

I was head over heels in love with my “Fab India Neem and Tulsi Face and Body Gel Scrub” and was totally mesmerized by the concept of this gel thing.  On my recent visit to the Fab India store, another gel product caught my attention and that was this gel face pack. I was pretty happy with the scrub, so I thought of giving this gel face pack a try and thus bought it without thinking again. As soon as I came home, the first thing I did was to wash my face and then apply the gel face pack out of curiosity as I have never used a gel version of any face pack.

As soon as I opened the lid of the jar, a smell similar to after-shave lotions hit my nose and I was like “have I done a mistake?” But then, I decided not to be so judgemental without using the product. I applied it all over my face and let it dry for 10 minutes as per the instructions given. After drying, I felt my skin was firm and smooth with a healthy glow. Though the glow did not last longer than a day, but it made my skin feel fresh. The gel pack gave a soothing feel to my face from all the heat and gave a lively freshness. The face pack is an aqua blue-colored gel with neither too thick nor runny consistency. A coin-sized amount is sufficient for the whole face. When applied, it does not show the color on the skin. It spreads as a transparent film.

Pros of Fab India Aloe and Cucumber Gel Face Pack:

• Refreshing smell.
• Extracts of Aloe Vera and Cucumber.
• Only a little amount is required for every application.
• A single tub lasts for months.
• Not tested on animals.

Cons of Fab India Aloe and Cucumber Gel Face Pack:

• Contains parabens and urea.

Finally, I would like to say that this can be a great after-sun mask. Please do not expect it to do miracles on your skin like improving the complexion, tan removal, and making the skin texture smooth. It has effects but they are temporary, works excellently in soothing skin.

Revlon Moisture Stay Lip Color – Brickstone

Hello Beauties,

After reading Nupur’s review here, I thought of reviewing the other shade I have from the Revlon Moisture Lip Range.  It is called as Brickstone and is numbered 49.  Recently, I took some time to marvel over my lipstick collection and realized I have lot of Revlon stuff and this tall, shiny and beautiful baby caught my attention. I must say the packaging is really very beautiful and catchy. It snuggles nicely in my bag and the tick lock of the cap frees me from the worry of it travelling all over in my bag in 2 pieces.

I must say that this is one brand for some reason that I have plenty of products from without any intention of doing so. I recall even during my wedding when I was not at all into makeup, most of the stuff I got or purchased was from Revlon. So, I think it really shows its easy availability and popularity in India.

So, let me directly tell you about the colour.

This shade I bought is a rich brown color with red undertones. Not a really unique shade but a good one to have in your collection. It goes really well with saris when you are in a fickle mind to wear red or not.

675 INR (1.7 gms)

Packaging:

It comes in a nice sleek and beautiful golden case that feels really luxurious. I like it! Also, the lipstick inside is a thinner cylinder compare to other I have. The only problem with that is it becomes prone to breakage if by chance you roll the full product for application. :methinks:  Twisting and rolling only a smaller portion should take care of this, so no worries!

Swatch on finger tip – For some reason it looks pretty sheer here, but it is actually quite pigmented.

What I Like about Revlon Moisture Stay Lip Color – Brickstone:

• Coverage is pretty opaque.
• Decent staying power for 4-5 hours.

• Available in lovely shades suiting Indian skin tones.

What I Did Not Like about Revlon Moisture Stay Lip Color – Brickstone:

• Lesser quantity when compared with other lipsticks.
• On the expensive side.

I thought I would share with you one of the most important steps for my hair-care. I think serums are essential for curly/afro hair (Probably other hair types too!) and I feel they really help with the management of hair, They help restore and soften the hair and…they smell nice!
I use serums after I wash my hair, I feel thats the time in which the hair locks in most of the moisture that the serums provide and when they work most effectively, however I also often use them when My hair is dry, To bring my hair back to life a little when its looking/feeling a little dull and it also helps with shine. I use it on my natural hair and also my extensions/weave.

I have tried many serums in my time, Its something within the haircare would that I love to dabble in, as i’m not really a hair-person overall but these are the ones I would repurchase and that I would defiantly recommend.

John Freida Frizz ease – Thermal protectant formula
This is the serum I have been through the most, I have repurchased this product countless times! Its one of my must-have items. I like this especially because it works when your hair is dry quite well and it has a heat protectant in it. I dont like using too many products on my hair at once so this is 2 in 1 which is helpful. it is lightweight, is only lightly fragrenced and lasts me many weeks, definatly worth the money!

Mythic oil – Colour glow oil
This is the latest serum I have tried but I love it already, mainly because it is SO lightweight, I don’t like serums which feel like they are gunky and would weigh the hair down, the consistency of this one is perfect and it almost feels like a dry oil. They have three versions of mythic oil, so there is bound to be one tailored to the hair type you have but I feel this product would work for many people. Again it is lightly scented, nothing overpowering, You can use it on damp or dry hair, It makes my hair feel very soft and luscious, I defiantly recommend.

KeraCare – Essential oils
I am in LOVE with this product, This one is especially good because it is multi-purpose, you can see its not called a serum per se but ‘Essential oils’ and its not as ‘oily’ as the other serums in this post,its lighter. It is a rich blend of high quality natural oils. It disappears very quickly and easily into the area you use it, It smells like HEAVEN, it contains coconut oil, sweet almond oil, jojoba seed oil and many more, its just a delight to use! It is defiantly worth the money, I have had this for almost a month, using it regularly and you can see in the photo how much is still left.

Fantasia heat protector straightening serum
This would be the thickest serum out of all the ones I will talk about in this post, It is also scented, What I like about this product is again that it is a 2 in 1, also containing heat defence. This product has lasted me years, I use this more so in my natural hair because my natural hair just drinks up moisture and as this one is slightly thinker and is very softening its better to use on my afro hair more-so then extensions where it might make them greasy. This product has been with me for years and it does alot of good for my hair, I love the fact it contains Aloe vera.

Moroccan oil 
Then we have the well-known Moroccan oil! I know many of you would already know about this product so I’ll try to keep it breif but this product I feel could work for anyone, whatever hair type. I prefer to use it on damp hair as i feel on dry hair it weighs it down. The smell is phenomenal and even though it is pricey I defiantly think it is worth the money.

Today, I want to review something which I wanted to share with you guys for so long and it’s the facial cloths from Kleenex. Honestly, as much as Bioderma cleanser changed the way my skin is, I believe for the Bioderma to work that well, these facial cloths made a huge change as well.

Kleenex Claims:

These gentle, cotton sheets are not only larger but softer, and are designed to be more effective at cleansing than cotton wool due to their quilted texture and natural fibres. They are soft and strong when wet or dry, so you can use them not only while applying cleanser and toner, but also while removing facemasks and even nail varnish.

Price:

£ 1.99, 2 for £3.

My Take on Kleenex Facial Cloths:

You must be thinking what’s so great about these Kleenex face cloths. Honestly, trust me on this, these cloths are so much better than normal cotton pads and they look and feel so lovely and they are so multifunctional.  I am in love with these because they have replaced my face towel and has really made a difference to my skin.  Think about it, when you use your towel to wipe your face, you transfer bacteria to it and how many times a day or for how many weeks do you use the same towel?  This process keeps transferring bacteria back on to your skin.

Of course, we can’t replace the towel every time we wash our face, but the best way is to use facial cloths for every wash. By doing this, every time you will be using a new cloth and every time that you wash your face, you won’t contaminate your skin. I like to keep these in the bathroom so that after every wash, I can reach for these rather than my towel.

Pros of Kleenex Facial Cloths:

• Cheap.
• Unique concept of a paper towel as a cloth.
• Multifunctional.
• Eco friendly.
• Can be used wet or dry.
• Perfectly sized.
• Good absorption power.
• Doesn’t leave cotton or fibers on the face after use.

• Neat packaging.
• Ideal to be kept in bathrooms and on makeup vanity tables.

Cons of Kleenex Facial Cloths:

• Unavailability in India.

Different Ways to Use Kleenex Facial Cloths:

• Can be used to clean and dry face after wash.
• Good for absorbing makeup, oil from the face.
• Can be used when applying lipstick, i.e., can be pressed between the lips.
• To remove makeup.
• To remove nail varnish.
• Can be used as a hand kerchief.
• To remove masks like face masks, foot masks, etc.
• Can be used as a 3D mask, just take a facial cloth, spread on your face and take a marker and locate your nose ,eyes and lips over the sheet now.  Now, remove the sheet and draw the areas located and cut them and finally take this cloth and soak in any of the liquids like rose water, milk or a mixture of lime juice and honey or any toner for half an hour.  Now, remove the sheet and remove excess liquid and place the mask on the face and leave it for 15 minutes.  Your home-made 3D mask should work!
• Can be used with toners.
• Can be used to wipe away hair removal products like Veet after usage.
• If you have oiled your hair and you don’t want to stain your pillow, just spread a facial cloth or two on the pillow.  It is better than newspaper because it won’t make any crispy noise and would absorb the oil.
• Quite handy to use after lunch and easy to just wipe your mouth with a soft cloth rather than a tissue.
• Useful to clean excess mascara from the brush.
• Very handy for home facials.
• For wiping off any kind of makeup and can be used in any makeup emergency, its very handy!

Yes. If you live in the UK, please go ahead and try these.  They are available in Superdrug.  They can be used for various purposes and being so inexpensive, you can stock up on these.  So, bye bye cotton pads and welcome facial cloths.

Hi Everyone,

I have wheatish complexion. The colour of my lips are different from each other! As in the lower one is light while the upper one is dark. Now, I have noticed that many girls have lips like that and it is permanent and I can’t do anything about it. I don’t mind when I have not applied any lipstick, but when I apply lipsticks (those which I have), even then they look different.  (I am aware of the fact that lipsticks look different on different people according to their lip colour).  I would mention here that none of my lipsticks are matte (I am not found of matte but then gloss can help), which I think would solve the problem. So, finally my question is which brand can give me a nice, full coverage, pigmented, matte lipstick, which is also easy on my pocket as I am a student!!! I am particularly fond of shades such as Ice Tea from Maybelline Watershine and Desert Bloom from Maybelline Moisture Extreme. I hope you understood my problem.
